KESK Co-President Mr Mehmet Bozgedik welcomed Mr Giovanni Di Cola. KESK congratulated Mr. Giovanni Di Cola on his appointment to the ILO Office for Türkiye. Mr. Bozgeyik described the current situation in professional life, public sectors, and public employees. KESK provided recent information about the earthquakes’ consequences on public services and public employees in the earthquake zone and other parts of the country. We also exchanged views on the 111th Session of the International Labour Conference, 5-16 June 2023, in Geneva. We informed Mr. Giovanni Di Cola about the problems with the existing collective bargaining agreement structure in Türkiye.
Mr. Bozgeyik also shared the KESK’s views on the general elections and areas of concern about the election’s safety. Furthermore, Mr. Bozgeyik gave information about our activities for election security.
In addition, KESK shared its on trade unions violations such as forced relocations, administrative and judicial investigations, dismissals, and discriminatory policies and practices that our members face in workplaces.
The KESK delegation also shared its solutions to these problems.
Mr. Giovanni Di Cola thanked the KESK delegation for the detailed presentation. He highlighted the importance of cooperation between the ILO and social partners, namely the Government, employers, and workers or trade unions. He stated that the ILO Office for Türkiye will continue to facilitate the social dialogue among the social partners.
