We have learned that a spectacular peace rally that was held in front of the Ankara railway station on October 10th in response to the invitation of trade unions and peace activists in Turkey was the target of two terrorist attacks as a result of which regrettably more than 100 peace-loving people were killed and many more were injured.
The anti-labour government of Erdogan has shown its evil and iron fist to peace-loving people and the working class of Turkey since a long time ago, going back to the unfortunate events in Taksim Gezi Park. Erdogan, who like his predecessors thinks only of profit, has supported the most reactionary and barbaric terrorist group in order to gain access to oil resources and become the region’s gendarme and has driven Iraq and Syria into a destructive war of attrition. It has gone even further and is pushing ISIS toward Iran’s borders. Unfortunately, due to recklessness and imprudence of powerful politicians in Iran, the course of events is going toward ignite a war between Iran and Saudi Arabia whose profits will only benefit the global warmongering capitalists.
Instigating and continuing the war and bloodshed in Yemen and sending money and weapons by Qatar and Saudi Arabia to ISIS, in which Erdogan is an active accomplice, has no object but to put the region in flames and to plunder the oil barrels at the cheapest price by the large oil corporations. For Erdogan, the lives of the humans in Syria, Iran, Kobani, Yemen, and Ankara is worthless.
The Union of Metalworkers and Mechanics of Iran (Felezkar) along with its sisters and brothers in labour union confederations of Turkey, DISK (Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions of Turkey) and KESK (Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions), and in particular the Metalworkers Union of Turkey, condemns the horrific murder of pro-peace and pro-progress demonstrators in that country; calls for peace in all the countries in the Middle East; and salutes the heroic steadfastness and resistance of protestors against the anti-labour government of Erdogan and warmongers.
